New International Road Transport Guide could help van drivers keep safe abroad

06-05-2010

Van owners who drive abroad could benefit from the new International Road Transport Guide, which has been published by the Freight Transport Association (FTA). The guide informs readers about foreign regulations, in an effort to prepare drivers for the differences they face when driving outside of the UK.

This is the 15th Edition of the International Road Transport Guide to be published. Don Armour, the FTA’s International Manager, believes it has helped many van drivers in the past and will continue to do so in the future. He commented “International road transport operators are often faced with a confusing array of local and national regulations that they do not encounter in the UK, including weekend bans, local weight restrictions and city centre bans linked to low emissions”.

Many UK vans are driven outside of the country on a regular basis and this guide will help drivers keep safe when abroad. It is hoped that by being aware of the differences that they will encounter when driving abroad, van owners will be less likely to have an accident and therefore less likely to claim on their insurance.

If you drive a van and need to take it outside of the UK, either for work or pleasure, then make sure your van insurance policy covers you for this. By using an independent specialist, such as Van Compare, you are able to compare van insurance policies from differing insurers, so that you can make an informed choice and end up with the cheapest and most suitable van insurance cover.
